After 8 months of solid living in the van, and just over a year of ownership, Duke the Fiat Ducato is on the market, waiting for its next adventure.
Waking up in paradise
We’ve had our ups and downs, but I gotta tell you… There’s nothing like waking up, and watching the sunrise over the ocean, from your warm campervan bed. Nothing to do, but sit in the sun all day, go for sea swims and read your book. It’s a slice of heaven we enjoyed for quite some time, and have absolutely no regrets. It’s a time we’ll look back on incredibly fondly.
The selling process
In order to increase our chances at a sale, we’ve advertised the van in both Mollymook and Sydney. We’ll be taking trips to Sydney every so often to hopefully get some views there, then coming back to work a few more hours at our jobs. We’ve had some interest so far, with many messages like “Hi, is this still available”, which have quickly become tedious to receive and reply to when it’s 100% of the time not followed up on their part.
Dodging scams
We’ve also had some scammers attempt a go, giving Ben a link to do a “History Report”, trying to convince Ben it’s the responsibility of the buyer to complete, when really it’s not because I paid for the genuine History Report last year when buying the van. If you’re really that serious, you’ll pay the $25 and do the report yourself- just saying!
So wading through the time wasters, but we do have a viewing today so fingers crossed it’s that easy!
So what is the plan for Asia?
Look, I’ll probably start sounding like a broken record but there’s not much of a plan for this trip. Other than starting in Bali. I’d like to visit the surrounding islands, of course Thailand, Vietnam etc. but we’re just going with the flow. It’s refreshing, it’s relaxing. Just letting life unfold is a really beautiful way to live. But of course doing it responsibly, like ordering and packing my stoma bags in advance, travel insurance etc. etc! We must still be prepared as life unfolds quite unexpectedly sometimes, as I’m sure we’ve all experienced at some level.
See below for the van pictures! Wish us luck and ciao for now!
